Church of the Epiphany - Anglican Network in Canada

Welcome!

Church of the Epiphany – Who are we?

ANGLICAN

We are firstly a Christian church, part of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. Historically the church has developed into different strands and we are part of the Anglican strand. The Anglican Church emerged out of the English Reformation of the sixteenth century and our beliefs are well summarized in the 39 Articles. In the context of widespread departure from orthodox Anglicanism in North America, ANiC and ACNA, of which we are part, are not a move away from Anglicanism but a recovery, a realignment of orthodox Anglicanism. Anglicanism has wonderful strengths: a great tradition represented around the world, a wonderful statement of our beliefs, liturgical worship, regular communion, a high view of the Bible as God’s fully trustworthy Word.

EVANGELICAL

There is a diversity within Anglicanism; some are more high church, others low. Church of the Epiphany is an Evangelical Anglican Church. As an Evangelical church we aim to be a people of the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Thus we stress:

     - the importance of entering into a personal relationship with Christ

     - the inspiration of the Bible by the Spirit so that it is the place in which we find Christ revealed to us

     - the importance of spreading the news about Jesus to all people

MISSIONAL

Mission is God’s great work in leading his creation towards the destiny he always intended for it. His people are called to be part of his work in his world. Our aim is to be a community who are living under his reign and thus part of his mission to his world. Church of the Epiphany aims to be a sign of God’s kingdom amidst a world in which He is too often ignored or disregarded. Amidst the brokenness and pain of a fallen world God works by his Spirit to reconcile the world to himself, and we desire to be part of his reconciling work in his world.
